(Reuters) - The White House announced plans on Monday to help "Arab Spring" countries swept by revolutions with more than $800 million in economic aid, while maintaining U.S. military aid to Egypt.

1.3 billion to Egypt and another $800 million in 'aid'.

So not only is America going to continue subsidizing the slaughter of people by Egypt but also give aid to the Muslim Brotherhood, a direct affiliate of Al Qaeda.

Why attack the United States directly when the United States would just throw stable governments under a bus and you can take over?

Muslim Brotherhood has been apart of the Iraq government for several years now. What should we have done about that?

Why can't Egypt borrow money directly from China themselves? Why do we have to be the middle man?

"3rd world country with bad credit? No credit? Do you have oil? Do you need cash now? If these answer to these questions are 'yes' then the United States can help!"

I hardly think cutting 37.5B in foreign aid is going to make much of a difference.

I think that $35B would be better served by spending it on new bridges, highway projects, build some new colleges for low income families, rural internet projects,,,,, then sending it overseas.

Better than using it to encourage trade, and grow US exports and build demand by helping countries to grow that all important middle income class that would demand US goods.

Who in their right mind would borrow money that you have to pay back when someone else will give it to you for free?

LOL

Some Al Qaeda live in NY. The federal government provides funding for NY therefore...

Obama subsidizes Al Qaeda

Methinks the OP violated the proposed "No logical fallicies/misinformation rule" in the title

I just do not see egypt being a importer of very many US products.

I am constantly amazed that so many people have no clue how much influence we buy on the cheap with foreign aid. The list of what we gain is quite long and it would be hard to imagine a cheaper way to gain equal value.

The US logic behind aid to Egypt is the USA agreed to continue that level of aid in the 1979 Camp David Accords.

And since the 1979 Camp David accords does much to Benefit Israel also, the equation is not as simple as many think in terms of US international relations in trhe mid-east.

Who do you think buys all that US military equipment?

Word of advice, don't sell guns to your enemies.

Egypt was our ally. After the elections, who knows what direction their government will go.

I think we should give Budweiser and jack daniels $1 billion to setup factories in Egypt. What do you say, maybe those muslims will develop a taste for US beer and whiskey?

As Sun Tzu said almost 2500 years ago, 'Keep your enemies close, but your friends closer.' With the current Iran crap going on, I would be more worried about what Israel might do, in its self interest, that what Egypt is going to do with the military hardware we have and will sell them.
