Does device manager see the sound card ? Are you sure you have onboard audio enabled in the BIOS settings?
I have one of these boards I bought from Newegg on the great Soyo rebate ripoff. Everything works for me, but I'm not especially impressed with it. It's a cheap board, not one I'd buy again, even for "free".
