I've never seen anything quite like that. Is there some benefit to it? I guess cooling could be better potentially, but you don't get the "wind tunnel" sort of effect with a regular case.

I'd have to agree on the filthy part.

It's for those who are constantly inside their case changing parts and the like. With essentially no case to work around, they're ideal if you're swapping cpus, cards, memory, PSUs, etc.

Those things have a limited market so the price per each is higher - as high as the market will bear of course. Not too hard to rig something like that yourself.

Ok, cool. I didn't think of that. I don't really change my stuff more than every couple months if that so It didn't occur to me.

Actually it isn't designed for end users at all. All end users should have metal cases that help limit RMI/EFI emissions. They are for service shops and other test benches. I use the bottom half of an old full sized desktop case with parts cut away for my test bench. A lot cheaper than any of the specialized rigs (FREE!) and works just as well.

Yeah.... obviously for fixing/troubleshooting computers.... it's a test-bench case (if you can call it that).

Actually kinda neat if you're into fixing computers (I should probably have one, I got friends bringing stuff over to my house all the time).

i have a SX1030B soho file server case now thats black and it attracts so much dust its rediculous i was just looking for something else at least i could just use canned air on that thing without having to move it just spray it every so often and that would be that...

FozenCPU has some 'standard' size models for abotu $80...

If you're not looking to use it as a test station (very temp computer housing) then don't get it. Start looking for a better case than the antec you posted about later... The test stations are intended for computer service tech's/shops, not Joe Blow user.

Are you talking about the dust that gets inside the case? If so, just get some polyurethene expanded foam airconditioner filter material. Cut it to fit behind the front bezel. Remember to clean it periodically and wash it under running water. The dust levels in the case will go down dramatically. Cooling will be affected negligibly.

Home Depot carries Frost King and it is uber cheap and reusable.

as above said, this is for people who are swapping out mobo's, psus, entire systems every other day for testing purposes. If you are not swapping out your system this often, dust, dirt, and other nonsense will quickly destroy your system. If testing is what you do, i would strongly recommend building yourself a setup that looks like those for much cheaper. Im sure you could go to any major hardware store, or make a stop at mcmaster-carr and buy individual stock pieces and build to your needs.
