Delete partition

I've had problems with my computer since I bought it and my manufacturer can't seem to fix it so I am just going to buy a new processor, a motherboard, ram, psu, and a windows oem. Now to completely clean off my hard drive can I just delete the partition or do I need to buy the software to wipe my hard drive clean?

Deleting the partition will not remove the data, jsut the pointers to the records.

Data recovery S/W can see it when doing low level access.

Why do you need to clean you existing drive unless you are going to return the untit? Use the drive in the new system.

I am reinstalling a new version of windows and I want the hard drive to be clean of the old, possible faulted version.

A normal format should do fine.

A low level format will provide you the piece of mind that you desire.
Such utilites usually come from the manufacturer.

If you really want to wipe your HDD clean, a free way to do that is
DBAN.

DBAN erases the partition table, which causes all drive letters to disappear.

SUGGESTION: Before you go spending on all that new stuff, why not try to get the rig you have now to work right? It's probably just a matter of adjusting various settings, mostly in your BIOS. A way to do that is to walk your way step-by-step through one of the many guides available free on the web. It isn't hard to do, but it does take time.

What's the brand and model of your motherboard? Maybe we can point you to a guide written specifically for the BIOS on your motherboard.

Or, a general guide for AMD-based motherboards is here.
You'd just methodically walk through it step-by-step, ignoring the overclocking part of it & make your computer stable at stock speed.

I bought the computer from IBuyPowerinc and since day one I had problems with it. It would freeze, keep restarting on startup and usually freeze on start up. I sent parts back but they all didn't fix it. I sent the whole PC back and when I got it back it worked good for a few weeks and then out of the blue my video card was getting really hot. Like 90c hot. After a major change in the cooling system, a huge fan at the video card the temp went down and the fps in games went back up. About a week ago it froze on me and then just would keep freezing on start up so I reformated and after that the comp. just kept freezing and only after 10 hours of the reformat it shit the bed. It just keeps restarting and I have halt turned off in the bios. I have a K8N SLI motherboard last time I checked. Do you still think it is the motherboard? (No sarcasm there)
