I'm on a wireless network - I have a Linksys 802.11g wireless AP/router, and I have it set to function as a DHCP server.

Now, on one of my computers (which is running Win98), no matter what I do, I cannot get it online. If I try to do ipconfig /renew_all in the command prompt, it says it cannot find a DHCP server, and sets a random IP and subnet mask (my home network's IP range is 192.168.1.x, and x>99, and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0).

The Wireless NIC comes with a piece of software that shows the relationships between the PC, the NIC, the AP, and the Internet, and it indicates that I am indeed within good signal range of the Access Point, and that I am getting a signal. It also indicates that I am not connected to the internet through that same AP.

what the heck. help me out here. pwease?

PROBLEM SOLVED

Linksys' software is stupid. I have 128-bit WEP enabled, and it indicated that I was connected to the network, when in fact I WAS NOT. I simply re-connected to the network, entered the 26-digit key, and renewed the connection on the command prompt, and it was fine.

stupid software... if it was on an XP machine, it simply wouldn't have let me connect, as opposed to saying "You didn't enter the right password the first time, but we're going to pretend like you did to screw with your head" :|
