Uhh, this thing pm'd me last night about some dvd thread from last year, then today I got another 18 PM's from it, is it a bot that you guys are using (Zuni?) or...? Could we tone it down, or is there a way to ignore it?

When you subscribe to a thread, you get a PM every time someone replies to it. You probably never unsubscribed from the thread, so it's still PM-ing you when there are new posts now that someone has revived the thread. Go to the "Today" page and check your thread subscriptions. Unsubscribe from the old threads.

Ok, but shouldn't it only notify you of a new post if you have not visited it? I mean why does it notify after every new post when the email system only notifies you once untill you view the original?

I've never done the email subscription notification so I can't speak to that.
But, I do know that if you do the PM notification for subscription, you get a PM for every new post to the thread. Often when I am interested in a thread but don't want to bookmark it or subscribe because of all the responses I think it will get, I just reply to it then later look for it on the today page.
Of course that won't work for those with no life who post here. The today page only shows your last 20 posts. Some of these folks post that in the course of a few hours.

Exactly how the subscription notice works. DaiShan has simply forgotten the ways in which this works. Perhaps it is his prolonged period of absence.
