fucking troll, may you be hit by a slow moving bus....will go where adults are..

I didn't get to read the OP before it got edited, but I gather that it was a somewhat obvious question.

For future reference, out of general respect to other members, we should answer the question, but also politely note that this basic information may be found in the owner's manual or some other reference. Also keep in mind that information we consider "basic" may not be for other people, and that even the manual may be a bit confusing for first timers.

In the meantime, thread locked.

More or less what hampster said, you friend should at least familiarize himself with the basic settings/information on his camera.

The bar in question is the exposure meter; too far to the - side and you're underexposed (dark), too far to the + side and you're overexposed (white). You can't always rely on that bar for guidance, but it's a good helper, especially for beginners.

Well, if you're going to be a dick about it, nevermind.

Though he didn't answer your question they way you'd like, hampster is right - your buddy should at least glance at the manual; I'm sure there's a PDF copy available online if he needs it. There's usually a 'quick start' or 'quick reference' section in them that briefly detail what each indicator means, and what each button does. If your friend knows much else about photography, those few pages in the manual should be plenty for him.

For what it's worth, I hope the mods leave your thread alone, so the rest of the forum can see how much of an ungrateful, selfish, and impatient douchebag you are
