Delaying a camera shot?

My cheapie Power Shot A570 doesn't come with the ability to delay a shot out of the box but I think I have heard of different kinds of software that can be loaded onto cameras. Is there anything I can load onto it that could give me the ability to take a delayed shot? I am doing some hiking and if there is no one else around to take a shot of us I would like to have some better long range shots as opposed to the standard Facebook shot where you just reach out.
