Please do not turn this into another ATI versus nVidia thread. Post where you ordered your respective card, when you were supposed to get it; your whole story/fiasco basically.

I ordered my X800 XT PE from gateway 6/12/04 with an est. arrival date of 6/24/04. It was then moved around between 6/29 | 7/8 | 7/15 | 7/12 | and now, 7/21. When will the GW madness end. Another else with Gateway?

I created this thread because the *Now Dead* thread in the Hot Deals forum isn't exactly the right place to drag it out.

Yeah there is a lot of flaming going on in the HotDeals forum...

Anyways I purchased my 6800GT @ CompUSA on the 30th of June @ $280+Tax. I have yet to receive it but from the looks of this I may be getting it as early as next week. The manager that allowed this transaction said that if he doesn't receive the card next week and hasn't heard a definate date of when he will he'll give me an X800Pro for the same price! Woohoo!

I don't consider this a success until I have the card in my hands ;)...or rather, in my PC!

DP, I know that's what they are planning. I emailed them and said about 5 times that I don't want to cancel my order, nor do I want them to cancel my order. I was very forceful about it. I mentioned bait and switch laws too. I have multiple law enforcement officers in my family, all of which are high ranking. It's also nice that I have a newly inducted lawyer in my family. I don't think it will ever have to go that far, but if they cancel my order and will not honor the previously price ... hell, if they don't give me 20% off for jacking around, it might have to progress into a bigger mess.

I will have a hard time selling my current card, while waiting on a next gen card again.

I sold my 8500LE and pre-ordered a 5800U. Mainly because I thought it would be a awesome card, as did many others. Secondly, because I didnt think it would be delayed for so long. Wow, I screwed myself on that one. We all know that the card wasnt very good, and was very late. I had a old S3 Virge as a backup card, so I couldnt play any games.

Sold my 9800XT to get either a 6800GT, or X800 Pro. I sold it for $350 one week before the X800 reviews hit, knowing I wouldnt get much out of it afterwards. I was on a crappy 9200SE for about 5-6 weeks, not being able to play any games. Wasnt that bad though, because I was building my current rig, which took a few weeks anyhow. I really tried to wait for the GT's to hit retail, but to be honest, I got tired of waiting. Got this X800 Pro, which was pretty easy to get.

Id like to have a 6800 series card though, mainly because I like Danger Den's new waterblock for it... Cools the ram, and has a maze over the GPU. I consider the current round basically a draw, so the little things like this matter to me. :)

Wow, I just rambled like a woman there.
