"Delayed" sound

Ever since installing SP1 for XP a few weeks ago, my sound is "delayed". Let me explain: Say, for exmaple, I have AIM open. If I am looking at the window, I will see the person's message before the ring noise comes in. Or, if I click a link in IE, it makes that click sound, but a half second to a second after I click the link. It seems a like a small problem, but it's actaully rather annoying. There is one exception though. If I am playing another sound at the same time (ie. Music), all sounds are normal and come in at the right time. Does anyone have a clue what the problem could be? I don't want to uninstall SP1. Oh, and I have onboard sound with the Asus A7V-133.
