DeLay Lands Coveted Appropriations Spot

WASHINGTON Feb 8, 2006 (AP)--Indicted Rep. Tom DeLay, forced to step down as the No. 2 Republican in the House, scored a soft landing Wednesday as GOP leaders rewarded him with a coveted seat on the Appropriations Committee.

DeLay, R-Texas, also claimed a seat on the subcommittee overseeing the Justice Department, which is currently investigating an influence-peddling scandal involving disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff and his dealings with lawmakers. The subcommittee also has responsibility over NASA a top priority for DeLay, since the Johnson Space Center is located in his Houston-area district.

UN-FRICKIN-BELIEVABLE ::Q

Almost sounds like they know the fix is in and they're NEVER planning on leaving

It;s an exchange of crooks, one for another:

DeLay was able to rejoin the powerful Appropriations panel he was a member until becoming majority leader in 2003 because of a vacancy created after the resignation of Randy "Duke" Cunningham, R-Calif. Cunningham pleaded guilty in November to charges relating to accepting $2.4 million in bribes for government business and other favors.

Appropriations? You mean like CASH DISBURSEMENT COMMITTEE << is that correct?

If they won't even punish their own then how can we ever have justice in this country..

There is a reason why mr bush panders to the fundies.. they don't have any reasoning ability.. Nobody should allow a man who is being investigating for money laundering to be the head of the money..

This is why I told you I hate all politicians.. they are all disgusting criminals.. could you imagine going to work on the hill with scum like this all around you? makes my stomach ill

QFT! :|

I don't know how much good it will do, but I just phoned my Congressman's office to give him a direct link to the story.

It's a classic case of putting the fox in charge of guarding the hen house. :|

Wrote my Rep also. Not that it will do any good with him being a party good ole boy from Mississippi. But, at least I am trying to put a finger in the *** (unfortunately, not the good kind ;) )

So let me get this straight.

Delay is on the subcommittee overseeing the Justice Department,

The Justice Dept is investigating a scandal disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff,

Jack Abramoff is connected to Delay in his indictments.

And no one in the Repub party thinks there is clash of interest?:Q

Or did Delay win a 'get out of jail free' card?

makes me :|

The revolving door of Republican party corruption. Randy leaves, Tom enters, the dance goes on and on.
