I need to eat some junk. Del Taco is closer and is seriously better so I'm not sure why Taco Bell is even in the running.

What should I get?

I've never really distinguished between the two. I think I prefer Taco Bell's tacos slightly but Del Taco's burritos, but it's been a while.

Am I to understand that you live in LA, a city of a trillion people and eight million eating establishments and you choose Del Taco? A city where restaurants open/close so often you could eat at a different one every day for the rest of your life and never eat at the same one twice and you choose Del Taco? YOU ARE WASTING THE OPPORTUNITIES LIFE HAS AFFORDED YOU! Get the carne asada burro, no rice.

I and my wife dined at a fine roach coach for lunch today. We enjoyed a Mexican hotdog-chipilones style, a lorenza tostata (carne asada, quesa blanca, avocado, pico de gallo), and a macedonia raspado (frozen peaches, strawberries, and pineapple with heavy cream, vanilla ice cream, and crushed pecans) for about the same price you can eat at Del Taco.

I enjoy Del Taco's fries. Both as far a tacos go, they are both pretty "meh." I love home-made tacos. Beef fried in bacon fat and seasoned well. Fresh onions, tomatoes, lettuce. Cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, refried beans. Fresh-made tortillas and some crispy corn shells.

Dinner has now been decided. Brb..

I prefer Del Taco but we dont have them out here. Their quesadillas in particular are delish. Taco John is awesome also, but thats another issue.

Love me some Del Taco better and cheaper than Taco Bell -

The cheapo crispy tacos are always good and cant beat the fries slathered in a mixture of Del Scorcho sauce and ketchup.

Del Taco. I've actually had a couple of decent TB experiences, but by and large they're just disgusting. Maybe it's my area (DFW). Taco Bueno, while a bit more expensive, is dramatically superior in every respect.

There's a Harvard Business Review case study about Taco Bell; they didn't start being financially successful until they realized that they're not really a restaurant. Since cooking food isn't their core competency, they shouldn't compete and compare themselves with real restaurants. What they do best is make economical, pre-portioned, cafeteria-style food items that only need to be warmed up for serving.

If that doesn't tell you all you need to know about Taco Bell, well, then I don't know what else to say.

McDonalds is successful cuz they realized the same thing. They deal in real-estate, not food.
Get the best locations and the customers come naturally.

Thanks to certain, political concerns, we have plenty of good mexican joints but they dont have the same hours as a fast food place nor the speed of service. I can understand why people keep hitting up Taco Bell.
