Deka/East Penn and Johnson Control batteries

What brand/models are these batteries hiding underneath these days? Is there a way I can figure out who the manf is of a particular battery while at the stores?

My work picked up Varta batteries as a distributor for a while. They're Johnson Control batteries. They seemed pretty high quality - we dropped them because the sales volume wasn't that great for their motorcycle batteries.

Once you know what one of the batteries look like, it is pretty easy to see the similarity to other branded batteries. Duralast, AC Delco, Die Hard and many others (20 battery brands) are manufactured by Johnson Controls. Basically, the bottom line on batteries in my opinion is the warranty. I prefer to purchase at Costco. They have dropped the Kirkland batteries (Johnson Controls) and went with Interstate (also Johnson Controls). The average car battery will cost about $78. The warranty is 42 months FREE replacement for anything wrong. Since the average battery only lasts about 48 to 72 months, this is a pretty good warranty. Sams club battery warranty is just as good.
