Looking to invest in a dehumidifier for the summer. Thinking it would make humid days, but cool days like today more bearable....but need some tips

1) Will it make enough difference that I won't have to use my a/c on some days? for example, 70 degree humid days like today. Even though it's cool outside

2) What functions should I look for in a unit? pint size (was thinking max 30pts)? speed controls? electronic?

3) Any good deals out there or good vendors to get them from? Beyond amazon.com, I'm clueless where to find one online.

4) Recommendations on specific units?

I live in a below-average sized 2br apartment (but only really use 1BR, as the other is always closed). Got a vornado fan going in the living room which helps, but not enough.

Should I fork over ~$100 to get one?

amazon has this tiny one which is at a good price for me, but it's for small area usage. I was thinking I might be able to get away with it. The rest of the decently sized ones are double the price.

edit: live in NY

Dehumidifiers are usually used in basements/attics to keep the humidity down. It sounds like you want this in living areas. That means the dehumidifier will run 24/7. so pick the quietest one you can, then connect a hose to it so it drains into a sink/floor drain so you don't have to empty it.

in humid places I thought it would help a lot. Maybe I'm wrong. I know cali's summer days are a lot different than over here
