degaussing your moniter

Not nescessary but an option if there is too much magnetic noise from speakers or so. And no it will not damage the monitor if you doesn't do too often like once in a month or soo. I never use it 'cause I don't have any need for it.

My Optiquest Q75s manual says NOT to do it more than once every 10 minutes. I would not recommend doing it unless you have a reason.

Most modern monitors degauss every tiem you turn them on. It can't be too harmful.

I think the purpose is to clear out any bad mojo that the crt has with the magnetic environment. So, you only need to degauss when the environment changes, put big electric appliances beside it, big speakers, reorient the monitor in the earths magnetic field, etc.

My last 2 monitors do it every time a boot up and reboot.
