Deftones?

I found out that Deftones are one of the bands playing on Summer Sanitarium tour which I'm going to.

I have a couple questions

1. Are they good?
2. If so, what are some good songs to listen to for someone who hasn't listened to them before?

Thanks
DnetMHZ

p.s. no I don't really like the other bands playing this tour Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Mudvayne(haven't listened to much of them either)
I'm really just going to see Metallica at this point.

Check out 7 Words, My Own Summer (Shove It), or anything from White Pony. I've only listened to the newest one a few times, but I like Minerva quite a bit.

For something quite unique, try Digital Bath and Passenger. That's not to say that the rest of their White Pony album isn't awesome.

if you like detuned guitars playing hard chords and a lead singer yelling every word at the top of his lungs, you'll like deftones.

yes.

i'm sure most of the songs they play are going to be off their new album, which, imo, takes some time to get used to, but is pretty good.

songs?

anything off of white pony, most of the songs from adrenalin, and the last part off their new cd is pretty good as well, i haven't heard much from around the fur so i can't comment on that.

lucky you, i'm jealous 😛

Deftones - Bored is my favorite song.

Their newest album is also great including the song Change (In The House Of Flies).

i've seen them live...he yells the whole time, thus why his throat got so screwed up on their last tour. they detune their guitars, check any guitar tab page.

I've been playing guitar for 17 years now and I've seen the deftones live about 6 times (and I was on stage with the band for 2 songs in 1997 😀 )

They do not scream the whole time, you must have hearing problems. Need I list songs that he sings, because it's the majority of them. He does scream, but not all the time.

Your best bet is to go ahead and get their albums. Get White Pony, Around the Fur, and Deftones, in that order. Their first album isn't bad, but I think the albums I mentioned are more worth your time.

Which show are you going to? I'm going to the one at the horse track in Chicago. I'm looking forward to seeing every single band there.

I saw them live in 99 or 2000 at Ozzfest. I can't remember which year. They pretty much got booed off the stage. There was a huge fight going on in the "pit" and people were throwing chairs and crap and the lead singer stopped his show in the middle of a song and told everybody to just "Chill out" and "Be peaceful" and stuff like that. Needless to say the drunk, overly aggressive Ozzfest crowd didn't like his "wussy" attitude and started booing him. I think the show ended soon after that.

The music itself it's pretty good, I don't like the singing tho.
