I have a NAS (Network Attached Storage) drive, and want to defragment it. When I open up Windows Defragmenter, it only gives me the option to defragment the C: drive.

Is there any way to defragment the external NAS drive?

Thanks.

I don't know - I can't even analyze it. How do I "jump on the NAS device"? It's just a hard-drive plugged into the router (no monitor or display of an type).

Most NAS devices are not formatted in regular Windows format.

Make sure that you can use Windows Defrag otherwise you might hose your NAS.

Try Diskeeper professional. It is a network friendly defragmentation program. IF ou do not want to spend money on that then take apart the NAS and install the drive in your pc for defragmentation.
