Hi, I recently did a decompression of some files in my computer. And now, I'm left with files ranging from half a gig to over 2 gigs with over 5000 fragments. I've tried using the defragmenter through the command prompt using -v -w and still nothing. I've tried third party defragmenters like auslogics and defraggler and they still dont work. When using auslogics though, I had some light shine on me while searching their support site.
"Disk Defrag sometimes skips certain files because they are locked by another running program... Disk Defrag also needs a contiguous disk space for each file to be defragmented. If your disk has a lot of free space, but it is broken into small free space intervals, Disk Defrag is unable to defragment some of the large files (such as movies, etc.) To tackle this problem we intend to introduce free space consolidation in the next version of the program. "
So now that I think I've found the source of my issue; could someone reccomend me a defragmenter that has what Auslogics calls "free space consolidation?"
thanks
