A friend is trying to run Defrag (I assume the default Windows defragger) & is getting the following message:
Defragmentation of (C: ) has been aborted due to inconsistencies that were detected in the filesystem. Please run CHKDSK or SCANDISK on (C: ) to repair the inconsistencies, then run Disk Defragmenter again.
I had them turn any screensavers, etc. off during the defrag process & that didn't help. They told me they tried to type CHKDSK and SCANDISK, but couldn't. I didn't inquire as to how they "couldn't", though.
The OS they're using is XP Pro.
Ideas?
