Defrag question

Some of the files are never defragmented. I know if I am currently running an application it won't defragment those files, but there are some files that I am not using that still don't defragment. Is there a way to force defragmentation of those files?

You'd need to run a boot-time defrag. One way to do this is to use a 3rd-party utility, such as Diskeeper or O&O Defrag. I like Diskeeper, because of the "Set It & Forget It" feature.

does diskeeper take as long as the windows defragmenter? i dont reboot very often so it wouldnt get defragged very often.

Dude, if you're using NTFS, and run the Boot-Time defrag once, it goes blazin fast. Then, use the Set-It-And-Forget-It option, and you'll be unstoppable. If you do a manual defrag, it only takes a couple of minutes, depending on the size of your hard drive, the amount of data, or the amount of framentation.
