Today I got a thinking it's been a while since I defrag the hdd's. There is a two hdd's in this system in question 20gig and 80gig. I done a defrag of the 80gig with no problems at all. But trying to defrag the 20gig is a pain in the neck. Even when its done with the defrag, it still shows a ton of red still.

I tryed DiskKeeper and both the defrag software that comes with Windows. Right now I'm keep running defrag over and over. Each time I run it on the 20gig hdd it's been getting better each time. Is there a better software or something I can use to defrag it better? I really dont want to format and reinstall windows. Since there is alot of software that is installed on this system. It's a pain in the neck to update all the software I run on this system.

You probably don't have enough free space on your 20gig. Move some files to your 80gig until you have atleast 15% free. Then defrag then 20gig. Diskeeper seems to aim for a faster defrag time rather than a more complete defrag. You can try O&O Defrag which has the ability to force a complete defrag (may take a while).

I got little over 3gig free on the 20gig hdd. Most of the software I install goes on the 80gig hdd. I just need a way to force it to complete defrag. I'll try that program you listed there. I'll let you know what happens.

The Norton Utilities Defrag is much better in my humble opinion.
Faster AND more thorough.
