It was not a false alarm this time.

Wow, that smelled bad.

I really need to figure out how they're getting in the attic. This is a big one too. Mind you size can be deceiving, they can still fit through pretty small openings.

I did not want that in my garbage since garbage day was yesterday, so I just threw it on my front lawn lol. Hopefully a crow picks it up or something.

And yeah, that is totally a mouse trap with an ethernet port on it.

Double check the soufets, look for any loose pieces of wood.
Look at putting up a wire barrier under the soufet. Any pipes or wire runs into attic. Flub the entry area around the hole.

The No Go signs that you posted; ensure they are multi lingual. Those mice may be immigrants

Also, seal holes with spray foam with rodent barrier (nasty stuff).

By the way, I had a mouse in my kitchen light (recessed into ceiling) last week. The mouse was between floors. I plugged the holes (security wires pass through them) with aluminum foil wads and then set traps in the attic and the garage. Had 2 mice within a week or so. Resetting the traps and waiting for more.

I'm wondering if they can slip between the L bracket that holds the soffet panel, and the brick. Can they actually climb on the vent holes upside down? If they can make it to the end of the overhang there are gaps that would be big enough for a mouse.

Also did not realize how badly I need to clean my windows. D:

There's also the weep holes in the brick, but all of them have steel wool in them.

That's your problem... you are giving them free internet.

Haha, maybe I should enable port security. :p

Do they make GoPro's for mice? I need to live capture one and figure out how it's getting in. Or maybe a GPS implant. LOL For science.

No good. seal with epoxy.

Those are for air circulation behind the bricks to avoid moisture issues. They are a problem with lot of brick structures though... in fact at work we had a roof leak because of the weep holes on the 2nd story (which is half of the building, so it was leaking at the roof below). The steel wool is nice and tight though and there's no way not even a mosquito is getting through. Though I need to go around and thoroughly check them to ensure none are missing or have gaps.

We keep the patio door opened in the summer so the dogs and cats can get in and out. Unfortunately, a squirrel decided to come in the house. It found its way to the pantry. I opened the door slowly and there it was, trying to find a place to hide. I grabbed a can of tomato and WAM, one good hit. It died instantly, not even a twitch and no mess.

A squirrel is the last thing I want loose in the house. They are very destructive especially the red ones.

Red squirrels are the thugs of the animal universe. I have a .22 inch present for all of them. They're no better than mice. #dealingwithredsquirrelsinhousesince97

That's odd, I always found squirrels to be more like birds, just nice to have around. I miss the days where I could go camping for weeks at a time, used to tame em. They'd come and eat from my hand and stuff and hang out on my shoulder, or head. We only have red ones. I saw one in my yard this spring but by the time I got any food out, it was gone. I tried putting peanuts outside but it just attracts the crows.

Hmm, when I bought my portable air conditioner, I wonder if it acted as a trojan horse, and they've been coming out of there since then.

WTF is wrong with you? It wouldn't STAY in your house. It would have been freaked out and never would have returned. Just shoo it away, FFS!

Now, if squirrels can get in and out of your attic, THEN you would have a problem.

[edit]
OK. I get the part about the red ones.

If I recall correctly, you live in the middle of nowhere (northern, rural Ontario)...

Haha no it's not the rural part of town, though it would be kinda cool to live on a big property in a rural area but I have to work, so no. :p

There's a big field in front of my house (running track) and there is some forest area not that far so that's probably where they come from.

Either way, I need to figure out how they're getting in. I'm suspecting the garage as I'm sure they can easily get under the door, so there could be an entry point to the house from there. It's only an issue in fall/when it starts to get cold, then it is fine all year. Definitely not a good sign if they're already seeking shelter. Summer must really be over already. D:

Hey, don't get me wrong, they are beautiful animals as long as they stay OUTSIDE. A few years ago some got in the house and I had a hell of a time getting rid of them. We re-sided the house, plugged the holes under the deck and that pretty well resolved the problem.

Here are some pictures I took a few years ago.
