Definition of an "outside edge" router

I know I've heard this term before but don't recall what it actually means or the significance of it. Anyone care to refresh my memory?

An edge router is a router "at the edge", meaning at the end or outer edges of a network.

outside edge router then is a router with no other routers beyond it.

Example: A clothing store chain has 300 retail stores. It's network is built around a hub-and-spoke architecture, with 5 core routers, each connectiong to 60 of the 300 "edge" routers, one per store.
