Definately won't ever eat at that Outback Steakhouse again

Having compared just about all of the steaks on Outbacks & Texas Roadhouses menu, I would have to say that Texas Roadhouse (at least locally) blows Outback into the weeds quality-wise... also they give you a lot more food for the money & have better beer selection. (Btw I like my steak bloody-rare)

Both of them however are in a whole different league then Crapplbee's, Chili's, 99 etc.


Edit: After a quick visit to their website, I must point out you are mistaken ... Texas Roadhouse uses USDA Choice cuts for their steaks, not Select.

After a few hours of pondering, I finally found that I think he meant "used to work", not "sued to work". It makes much more sense that way, anyway.

Outback might be ghetto, but they charge outrageous price. $12 to $20 for a steak...WTF?

Oh well, could be worst, you could be eating at Red Lobster. I had the running emergency shizzo in the toilet the last 2 times I ate there and the last 2 time I will ever eat there.

Roadhouse is another chain that pulled out of here for lack of interest (mostly due to the wrong crowds frequenting them)...Outback is still going strong.

also, sounds like he didn't posess the social skills required to perform at the waiter position. Naturally he harbors a grudge and takes it personal

Too bad ... both places are packed every night here in CT.

I'm not implying Roadhouse is the best place in the world for steak by any means, but its my first choice among the chain places I've eaten at.

The point of a chain from the consumer perspective is consistency at an acceptable level. OP experienced a horrible confluence of failures that are prolly atypical of even that location. Schtuff happens. At least your wife ate for free, you were happy with your lower cost burger elsewhere, and you can try again mit der coupon. /Pollyanna

They might advertise choice but substitute select or no roll. I had a fillet at Outback
that was like a rubber shoe. Not to mention my wife's blooming onion was burnt to
a crisp and my coconut shrimp were not butterflied and half- breaded. Haven't
been back since. Cut meat for 9 yrs, I know select when I taste it. Have had good
luck at Longhorn's...

Whenever I see a place advertised as "family friendly" I avoid it similarily to avoiding the plague.
I HATE families in any eating establishment!
They are horribly rude, to the point I feel like leaving halfway through my meal.

I prefer to avoid any places near a mall or a busy strip. Family heads (mom or dad) tned to find the easiest place possible.
I usually go for the places near offices with no other attractions.
Yuppies get pretty annoying when they drink, but not nearly as much as a sober toddler.

In regards to the service:
I have noticed that places who see a lot of families tend to stop caring about the quality of their food and service very soon after opening.

The local Red Robin is good because you have to at least 21 just to go into the bar side.
The bar side is completely seperate from the regular restaurant side (or as I call it, "The Annoying People Side").
Applebees and Chilles have a similar setup, but the bar side is too damn close to the family side.

I thought I would avoid that issue going at 11 o'clock at night.
No such luck. I actually saw parents taking their kids in to eat.
The first thing on my mind was "WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF ASSHOLE PARENT TAKES THEIR GODDAMN KID OUT AT 11 O'CLOCK!?!?!?!?"

The answer came almost immediately:
"Probably the same parent that lets them scream their lungs out, pour sugar all over the table, run around loose, lick the salt shakers, and throw food."

Good GAWD people! Take your kids to freakin Denny's or Perkins for that crap. They expect it. Dont ruin the nice places.

Actually, yes, it makes sense.
You are paying money to Insure that valuable meal.
The problem is, the insurance comes after you are done. So you have to go there several times, lay out a big tip for each visit, and hope to god people remember you after a while.

One option is to get Outback carryout. Their food is not the nectar of the gods and it definitely is not worth waiting in line or tolerating poor service for.

Sweet! Another underachiever that makes me shine even brighter! I like how he wrapped doing the dishes and cooking in one phrase. I think we was referring to the fry baskets though. *DING* Get the fries fool!
