Love DG to death, but I hate how big and complicated some of these maps are getting.

Yeah, and it's so overwhelming at first glance. A giant sea of building squares greets you, 2 entries for air units with 2 exits, 4 entries for land units with their 4 exits, I can't even tell where the enemies are trying to get to sometimes and this is a tower defense game!

Of course, not all the maps are like this but it seems to be trending. Lets hope Containment doesn't go that route. I did participate in the kickstarter funding too btw, it's just that great of a game even with the flaws imo.

Sorry, but only challenging thing left for me are complicated maps (like final map of the original game :D ), which is not obvious how to route them, so you had to pre-plan it. Especially ones that are multi-screens. What, you don't like some challenge?

I prefer a more linear type of tower defense map, it can be just as 'challenging' deciding what types of towers to place where, and what individual chokepoints to utilize (and how to utilize them) than by just giving you a huge map full of squares with so many entry/exit points that it's overwhelming.

I'm actually glad they cater to every type of TD gamer, but it seems like they have been leaning the bigger/more complicated route too often lately imo.

I also prefer more of a linear map than the giant ones, but I think once in a while they can be good fun.
I hope the next game has more options / weapons and strategies the player has to think about.

in the original game i loveeeeeeed those open space maps in which you had to try and die a couple times until finding the best possible road.

i think it was the most innovative part of the game (besides the going to core and come back mechanic)

in normal TD in which its 1 big block of space you normally end up doing the zigzag road with slow torrets in the corners and stuff like that... it gets boring fast

the campaign had enough gameplay for me, didnt try out the other mods / dlcs, but im looking forward to the sequel

One of the toughest maps for me was about halfway through the original where there is one really long looped around track, but at several points the tracks has a block connection to another part of the track giving a wide option of paths that can be taken. The challenge is building enough stuff to lengthy the minimum path while trying to save up enough cash for the upgrades as you have tough units coming in a couple waves.

Has anyone been playing this yet? Worth the $?

I bought it last night and made it thru 4 or 5 maps.
So far for me, it's more of the same.
And that's a good thing, because I like it.
If you're on the fence, you know it will be 1/2 off in 1-2 months.

thanks, i'll try to replay that one lupi.

I expected Containment to be similar to the original, but in the next game I really hope there is more new stuff like towers, game physics, environments, etc etc. There is quite a bit more they could add to keep it fresh and make it more fun to play.

I dismissed this game when I first saw it. It looked primitive and dorky but I ended up liking it a lot. You can also play while doing other things (phone, TV and radio etc). I turn the sound off after the first few runs (I hate that GLaDOS voice). Still its a great $5.

I got gold medals in all the Story and Challenge levels of Containment without having to resort to YouTube walkthroughs (as I usually do). Containment is a good DLC. The voice-overs this time are better than the GLaDOS of You Monster

i've been working on You Monster, which is pretty tough so far. i really love the changes with that set of levels. trying to figure it out myself is frustrating but good fun.

I have all the DLC now, and it's all been fun so i am looking forward to containment and any future expansions and levels!
