Defective DVD or my DVD player?

I just got T2: Special Edition today, was watching it on my computer (C2-566@952, the dvd player is a Toshiba SD-M1202, using the Creative Playcenter (plays all types of media))

During some parts of the movie, it would suddenly "skip" to a previous part of the movie, usually about a minute before, and it would keep looping like that. (Had to skip over those parts to keep watching) No dvd I own or rented has ever done that (The Matrix, The Mummy, Blue Streak, just to name a few) I rebooted twice to make sure nothing was interfering. (It does it at the same spots) Defective or possibly my drive, or does anyone else have the same problem with their T2 dvd?

(Note: my drive has started doing weird things lately while playing movies, like sometimes the movie would slow down, pause in some moments, then play as normal, did it with the past two DVDs I've rented, did it with T2 also)

I had a friend with very similar probs. He rented the same movie 3 times and had the same problem each time. It sounds like DVD player to me.

Also sounds like you need to try PowerDVD Software. This may help im not sure though. Its what I use and its Crystal clear.
You wanna make sure you have a fast CPU, My old K6-2 500 wasnt fast enough but my Athlon 900 pushes it right along!
Good Luck! :)
