Defeating telemetry and W10 updates going forward...

This is sort of a spin-off of BerryRacer's fine thread about all the Windows updates to block to keep W10 and telemetry in the short-term. I'm kind of the opinion that blocking 20+ updates isn't a very wise choice in the long term, to that end I'm wondering the best way to configure services and such to defeat the W10 nonsense and telemetry going forward.

On my main desktop I've disabled Diagnostic Tracking Service, and managed to disappear the .GWX file (I don't recall how I did it.) I also did the .GWX registry hack (which may be unnecessary because the .GWX file doesn't exist any longer.) I've also elected to not install a very few KBs that are specific to W10 and telemetry.

Knowing MS has probably figured out some of us are trying to defeat particularly the telemetry functions, I wonder if they haven't slipped something else in, particularly in services, as an end-run around the disabled Diagnostic Tracking Svc. I've also got a few PC's that don't have DTS listed in services... possibly because I never downloaded the KB that installed the DTS in the first place... and I want to make sure MS doesn't have a work-around.

I see this morning the Fall install of W10 showed up in Updates... optional but already checked for install. But at least no nagging tray icon...

EDIT: I should point out... I'm asking about fixes for both W7 users, and W10 users (obviously, for telemetry only.) I have both OS's running across 7 different machines and I'm trying to come up with a list of permanent fixes.

There *IS* a legit way to stop telemetry, but, the ways shown before are not it, they help somewhat, but, all MS has to do is a slight tweak, and since win 10 auto-updates, there is really no way to stop it.
The real problem is, ONLY enterprise customers truly have the ability to turn it off completely, and they are not going to offer that to other versions of windows 10.

As it stand Now the above seems to be the current state.

Thus, if One has a real need (Beyond the Classical Drama Queening/Kinging Syndrome). Buy an Enterprise edition and spend your energy on Real work.

The problem with all of the ""Help"" is that their "Providers" do not do wide thorough vetting. If it work on their particular computer they think that it is OK for everyone.

I came across cases of users that follow the advice, and or use the Apps that are available to download. They ended up with "collateral" damage and system (Networking aspects as an example) that stooped functioning after playing around with the Updates.

This article has a link to a freeware app that is supposed to disable telemetry

https://www.safer-networking.org/spybot-anti-beacon/

They are also the creators of spybot search and destroy which I used for windows XP so I'm trying it out. I'm aware of the software on github that serves a similar purpose and will try it out on a spare system.

____________

im also using anti beacon, we shal see how it works
