Defeating Desann in Jedi Knight 2

I've tried to probe for his every weakness but can't find any. Conventional weapons don't work, and the moment I get near him he slaughters me with Pull/Push/Grips even while I'm having Force Speed on. I especially hate it when he pushes me, and then throws the lightsaber so it hovers right above me while I'm getting up - that's almost an instant kill... also I cannot seem to Push his Grip at all!

I also tried activating the red beam in the middle of the room, and then jumping into it but I don't notice any benefit to it.

Can anyone just give me a slight hint? I don't really want to spoil it all by having a "how-to" to defeat him, but I'd appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

BTW I'm playing in Jedi Knight difficulty, if that matters.

Maybe I got lucky but I was able to kill him on my 3rd try. I just used speed to get up on him when he used the lightning and choppped him to bits. Make sure that you change you fighting stance "use the L key" so that you can swipe side to side. Also if he throws his saber he will be defencless for a short while and you can get some good shots in.

The red beam in the center of the room gives you invincibility for a couple seconds, so put your saber in offensive mode, jump in the beam, and then turn on force speed. Run up to Desann and hit him a couple times before your speed runs out and then escape to the ledge at the top of the room and wait until the beam comes on again.

Whew... finally beat him. So speed, and the red beam, was the key to beating him. I guess I'm also considered lucky this time around... he didn't use his deadly Force Pull combos on me while I was charging at him or running away once my speed+invulnerability was going to finish (which he always did during my first 15++ attempts).

I beat him first try on normal difficulty. Total dissappointment, especially considering how hard other places in the game were. I didn't even know there was a red beam in the room to activate, I just used force speed and hacked away until he fell. I was expecting his hand to twitch and him hop back up during the cut-scene.

I turned on the beam but never discovered what it did. Desann came up the stairway to me, I somehow force pushed him down, went into Jedi Time and literally carved him up in 5 seconds. He went down so quickly I was a bit dissapointed. But he'll be there during my next replay.

You guys were lucky. I almost never managed to Force Push him ("You dare push me?!!" - Desann), except when he was in the middle of a jump. He also instant-kills me with 1 hit of his lightsaber without invulnerability despite the fact that I have 100 Health and 25 Shield during the encounter.

Anyway, I do not look forward to replaying at Jedi Master difficulty at all. Just thinking of trying to keep prisoners alive gives me the shivers..... :Q
