Currently, it is MSN Search - and it has been OK in the past, but now is getting cute and blocking responses with full screen, irelevant garbage. Can that be replaced with something intelligent like Google?

hey corky...i don't have an answer to your question, but an alternative solution....i prefer Google as well, and not sure if you can add Google to the default search engine in IE 6...but check out the Google toolbar LINK...you can customize it anyway ya like, just as easy....thing i like about the toolbar is that all searches that you have done are just a click away.

If you are using WIN9x, either open regedit & change the following key or copy the following to notepad, save it as search.reg then double click the file to merge into the registry, win2k or winxp may have a different key name- the default value is "http://ie.search.msn.com/{SUB_RFC1766}/srchasst/srchasst.htm"

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search]
"SearchAssistant"="http://www.google.com/"

Thanks all for the excellent insights and tips. After looking at all the options, I decided to go with the installation of the Google toolbar in IE. It works just like I wanted it to. :)
