Default refresh rates

Hardware:
Belinea 103040 17"
Creative Labs Geforce 2 GTS

How can I set these? I just want to edit the registry somewhere hopefully. I hate bloatware so refuse to install powerstrip (unless I can remove it once it's made the changes?)

All of my games put the refresh to 60Hz (crap) & a winamp plugin tries to set 120Hz which my monitor won't do at 1024x768.

I assume you have already tried the ControlPanel/ Display/ Settings/ Advanced/ Adapter.

that lets me change it for my desktop but the settings don't stay the same for games and stuff.

Do you have the latest monitor drivers installed as well?

Possibly you are looking for this: C:\Program Files\DirectX\Setup
click DxDiag and look for "More Help" on the far right. Click the tab and then click "Overide". Use with care, it is possible to damage your monitor. Check your manual for allowable settings.
