Default password for admin account on Dells?

My brother and sister just got a new dell to share. It is running WIndows XP Home Edition. When I try to log in to the Administrator accout, it won't log in. Does anybody know the default password for Dell Administrator accounts? On my XP Pro machine that I built, it at least asked me to set the admin pass. I need admin access to this computer to install a program for my sis, so if anyone knows, i need that knowledge. So if anyone knows, help is appreciated.

If I remember correctly, Dell (and most OEMs), ship their computers with an image that has been sysprep'ed. This means that when you boot it up for the first time, it will run through a mini-setup, where you set the name of the machine, networking info, and the administrator password.

As far as I know, Dell does not ship PCs with any passwords, you set it yourself.

Stash is right. When I first started my new Dell, I set the password before finally entering XP.

On this Dell, the sysprep did not ask for an Admininstrator password. The sysprep only asked for which users would be on the comp, and the timezone, and things like that. But never asked for the Administrator password. Maybe the sysprep only does that on XP Pro? I am not sure. So any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks for the help so far though.

The user that you set up on install is set up as an administrator. If necessary that user can set a known password for user "administrator". That should give you an administrator login, however the user created on installation has full administrator privledges for program installation, unless you went in and reduced rights.

Yeh, hes right, the logged on person should be an admin account.
Right click My Computer~Manage, then go to Users and Groups, 2 click on Administrator and you can change the PW there for the admin account
