Default Messaging App

S9+ on Verizon
I have 1 sms app and only use it. Have set it as default. Keep getting this message, any ideas?

Try installing another messaging app, like Textra, and see if you can make that your default, then use the built-in app and make that the default.

A buddies phone did the same thing, was a older model though, it ended up having 2 different versions of the same messenger app installed somehow and you couldnt uninstall them because they were baked in and his phone wasnt rooted. We rooted his phone and uninstalled one and that solved the issue.

Now it asks me each time if I want to use Textra instead.
Dont want to root (yet).
Maybe an update will fix it.

This. I have the same phone and ditched the Verizon app in favor of Textra first thing. If I open any other messaging app, I get that alert, but I just leave Textra as the default.
