Default login question for Win2K gurus...

When you do an installation of Windows 2000, it asks you if you want it to automatically log you in, or if you have to type a username and password to get into the computer... right?

Well, one of our users told Win2K to automatically log him on, but we need to change it so that each time he boots it prompts him for a username/password.

Where can I change that setting? I have already created his username, and we can log into it by "logging off default user"... but the next time we boot, it still automatically logs him on.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Try checking "Users must enter name and password to use this computer" under Control Panel>Users and Passwords. Also try checking off "Users must press ctrl+alt+del to log into this computer" on the 2nd tab of the same dialogue.

In control panel under users and passwords, check the box that says users must enter a username and password to use this computer.

If the person is a normal system user, you might want to think about making him a restricted user, able to use the computer but not instal anything or change system settings. You do that in the same Control Panel>Users and Passwords that Ladi described.
