----------------- Default Gateway problem w/ Printer ??

thatsright

Just got a new HP 1320 wireless laser jet printer. This printer is not located in the building. Setting up the internal NIC to access our network. The network it is on uses an IP of 192.168.x.x Subnet 255.255.255.0 and a Default Gateway of 192.168.8.1

Our network where the print server is located is on a 255.255.0.0 subnet and a default gateway of 168.15.3.1

This print server cannot be found through browsing, and it cannot be added to the network. I can access the printer through a web browser and entering in the IP address. But it cannot be found in the Web Jet Admin .

I have a feeling this is due to the different Default Gateways? If I change the default gateway of the printer, to our network would I be able to see/add it to the domain?

Thanks

does your router or firewall between the networks have filtering?

maybe you have allow port 80 from any to any but block port 9100?

If you can ping the printer from the other network there is no problem with the gateway or the printer's TCP/IP setup.
