default email for MS Word

pontifex

In MS Word there is a button you can click to send the current word document as an email. By default, it uses Outlook Express. I need to change it to Outlook but I can't find where to do it. Outlook is the default email program on the system.

Can this be done? Where do I go to change it?

In Internet Explorer... under Tools...Internet Options....Programs tab.... is E-Mail set to Outlook or Outlook Express?

If OE change it to Outlook and test it.

If not... I'll keep thinkin about it... lol

It was set to OE but I changed it to Outlook but it still uses OE.

Since the top of my head answer didn't work, I did some searching...

I found the following:

Already did this part:
From IE:
Tools | Internet Options | Programs
Select Outlook as the email program.

But not this part:
Also you may want to run from the START | Run line:
"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /unreg

If msimn.exe (Outlook Express) is located in another folder or drive, change it to reflect the proper path.

Be sure to put a space before the /unreg and put it outside of the quotations.

Under Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs, go to Set Program Access and Defaults and make sure Outlook is set at the default email program.

Hmmmm....

In Outlook itself is the default email client set to Outlook (sounds silly...but I've seen it mentioned in a couple of places) Tools...Options...Other.

I'ma not givin up yet... lol

Is this key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail" set to Outlook ?

The registry says default is Outlook.

I wonder if reinstalling Outlook would take care of it?
