I'm trying to figure out what the default dynamic port range that Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 uses. I found a similar document for Vista and Windows Server 2008 but that command doesn't work for Windows XP. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929851. My current understanding is that XP uses a random port above 1024 and increments from that random number and that there is the MaxUserPort DWORD value in the registry that can control it, but without the value it defaults to 5000.

Anyone know where I can find that information?

Thanks!

XP should be the same as 2003 and that is documented in the link you provided.
