Decided to mess around with a midi file from the def leppard song 'hysteria'. I can pretty much play it forwards/backwards on guitar/bass/drums, but I wanted to see what I could come up with via midi and some cool synth plugins in Ableton

Made a soundcloud page for it 'dub leppard'. :p

This is just an 'end of the night' mix. I'm going to do a bunch more tomorrow.

I changed all the sounds. Puts lots of filters/effects on stuff to get some dubstep sounds. Changed up the drum beat, etc. Still hardly dubstep, but I just messed around with that in mind.

I've been messing with audio for 20 years so its not 'that bad'. check it out if you like def leppard.

Actually doesn't sound too bad, although the beginning sounds better than the rest. The biggest thing that sounds like it should be changed is the sound used to represent the words of the song. It really does not fit / sound right.

I lasted until the weird reverse noise started... that was not a good choice.

That was pretty bad, during the Hysteria chorus, the melody is completely off b/c the higher pitched bell sound (i.e. the alternating high/lower pitch bell sound). That ruined it for me.

What the shit is this fuck?

Edit: listening to it again, I have to say it sounds as melodious and harmonious as my derriere after a large burrito. The resemblance is uncanny.

All you need to do is add a Harlem Shake video to that and the entire Internet will hate you.

It sounds better than def leppard.

...not saying that much.

I agree with whoever shat on the weird 'reverse' notes.

Nice job, I agree that some of the noises are tough to listen to, but it started out good.

I'm sure it's tough to keep this all timed and in rhythm, especially with all of the reverb/reversing.

Yea, especially the way the midi file was arranged. Some synths worked get for some parts, but not others because of dynamics.

has some promise to it, but certain stuff is just obnoxious and hard to listen to, no offense

Yea, I agree now... It was really late, and I was essentially 'experimenting' with different sounds. It was kind of a lottery with what sounds went where.

I'm 100% in agreement about the vocal part and the 'reverse sound' killing it.... sounded neat at 4am.... i swear
