First off, people fail to understand car headlights blind deer. Hence they blame deer for acting irrationally. Then we fail to understand that deer are nocturnal, feed at night, and sleep through the day. The times of max danger is dawn and dusk. But if you see a deer moving during broad daylight, chances are that something has spooked it and its in panic mode.

The other thing that can change the odds in your favor are those little ultrasonic whistles you can mount on your front bumper.

A few months ago, the fiancee and I were coming back from dinner. She was talking the roads a little fast and I told her to slow because I see deer all the time. Two seconds later, two dart out in front of us like they heard my talking about them. Worse part was they ran down the road in front of us for about 2 miles because the mansion along our road had too high of a fence for them to jump over. The one even made a left hand turn into our subdivision and kept running in front of us. Eventually it stopped and started going the other way. Moral of the story, I doubt she will ever drive fast down the roads by us at night :)

Please go back to trolling P&N for the next Palestinian thread.

Those little 'ultrasonic' whistles don't work. Hundreds of studies have proved it.

Providing crappy incorrect advice doesn't help anyone.

We have to occasionally fish them out of Lake St. Clair. It's a result of us encroaching - let's face it, nature doesn't build steel sea walls 6 feet tall so the deer can't climb out. But they simply aren't the brightest animals in the world.

If it makes you feel better, Pulsar, I hit one for you the other day.

I was driving and this deer just stopped in the middle of the road, not even looking at me. I honk the horn a couple times, nothing. It's like the ah heck was saying "Betcha won't hit me in yo' Supra!" to which I replied "OH YES I WILL!" So I slowed down to about 10 mph and cracked that sucker right in the ass!
Needless to say, his eyes got really wide and he took off like a rocket. FOR PULSAR! xD

*No Toyota Supra's were harmed in the making of this event.

Animals are weird. They don't seem to be afraid of machinery. I have the most luck fishing when I'm trolling with a 7hp engine in an aluminum boat. Under water, that thing is louder than a million people trying to scream, but it doesn't scare fish. Horses and cattle tend not to move away from tractors or trucks. When slowly driving a truck in a field, cows will walk in front of the truck.

A deer once ran into my car while I was driving. I mean like I was going about 30mph and the Deer ran into the side of my car. It belt the mirror a little but other than that the car was ok. The deer was probably a little shaken up but not injured.

That happened to my brother once in his Oldsmoboat (not to be confused with the member). The deer hit the side and apparently defecated at the same time, as there was a nice brown streak down the side of the car!

not wanting to get into a debate about anything. but its not the deers fault we overpopulate and invented motorized cars at high speeds cause were lazy, impatient and smart.
I don't agree with slaughtering animals for anything other than food, but the fault here is really our own.

i mean were at 7 billion now, what are the animals suppose to do exactly? maybe we should train them all to look before crossing the roado_O
