Well what can you say "I should have recalled all "DEER P.S." I have on customers systems and replaced them with a better quality version by another manufacturer. All this is related to about (8-10) 250 watt Deer power supplies that have gone to their grave in the past 1-1 1/2 years on me all within 3 months to 1-1 1/2 years of operation. To make matters worse when they go they like to create surges that take other things with them like video cards and hard drives. My most current is on my table now and sure enough the transistor board in the power supply shows a nice little darker brown spot around a group of transistors which indicates a burnout in that area. Now the hard drive has a problem whereas the minute I plug another P.S. into it it shorts out the system, I put another hardrive in it as well as a another motherboard, ram stick and video card and the newer harddrive will load and bring up windows but when I try and slave the original hard drive to it to see if I can retrieve any data off the 1 year old hard drive it shorts the system out ...only the IDE light comes on for a split second then goes out.....Is it cooked?
