I absolutely hate Turkey, I don't even eat it on Thanksgiving. But my Bro In Law does a deep fried one every year. I tried some, and it wasn't as bad as regular Turkey. The skin was crunchy and had flavor and the meat was real tender. While I'm still not a huge fan, it's the only way I'll eat Turkey.

SHITS GOOD JUST DON'T BURN IT

srsly

Yep, very, very easy to over do the turkey or burn it. Keep a close eye on your oil temp. Check bird temp with a thermometer, it will rise extremely fast once it gets close. You have a window of maybe 5 minutes between good and overdone/burnt. The burnt aspect has to do with your oil temp.

And for the love of god, turn off the burner when you put the bird in and don't put in too much oil.

fried turkey is awesome. Done it a few times.

Smoking it, however, is waaaaaaay better.

Yup. Had peanut oil fried turkey. It's good and better than oven roasted. But smoked turkey is the best. It's cheaper, easier, and way less dangerous than frying a turkey.

very good and juicy.

not fried like most people think of fried. it locks in all the juices and makes it the most turkey you'll have.

Why would you do this inside? Get an outside cooker. $100 in vegetable oil. Nice big ol' turkey. YUM YUM.

notice i said STUPID PEOPLE

lots dont do it inside who set their house on fire, they do it on their deck which is made of WOOD, or simply too close to the house

Because there are a lot of idgits who do it in their garages to block the wind. Garage catches on fire, people rush inside to save the beer, breathe in smoke, and die.

We did the fried turkey thing for a few years (4-5 years) and its lost its luster. I think the turkey just tastes better when cooked in the oven plus you get all the wonderful smells throughout the house. I think we are going to oven roast one this year and I'll smoke one also. I need to look up the smoking times for an 8-10 lb bird.

Delicious, but have an extinguisher ready. There is nothing worse on thanksgiving than standing in your back yard waiting for the fire dept.
