You have the AFC North all screwed up. The Browns are going to be better than last season, and the addition of Donte Stallworth will bolster any already very good offense. Defense will be a concern, but I still think they're tops in that division. The Steelers will finish around 9-7, maybe sneak into the playoffs. The Bengals are already in disarray and the season hasn't even started yet. Rudi's hurt again, Chad got injured (who knows if he'll be back by week 1), and that Defense still stinks.
AFC North will go 1. Browns 2. Steelers 3. Ravens 4. Bengals
We'll see. I did say at the top that that division was tough to pick. I really don't like what the Browns bring, they have a good line and you have to like Edwards and Winslow, but other than that I'm not high on their offense, or their defense. The Bengals are always in disarray, but if they get healthy the offense has the talent to compete.
You have it right.
All the analysts who like to make them a chic pick have failed to recognize they barely managed 10 wins on what was by far one of the easiest schedules - dropped all of their games to any decent teams (not that they played many, the Steelers twice and the Patriots once - all losses, they only played 3 teams / 4 games that ended up with winning records) - and now they (along with the rest of the NFC North) have one of the toughest schedules in the league. I won't be surprised if they can barely reach 8-8 with fans screaming for Brady Quinn.
Also, there's no way the Ravens are finishing anywhere but last. They went 5-11 last season and this one is obviously for rebuilding (new coach / new QB)...I'd call your 6-10 prediction pretty generous, although I could see an opening for Troy Smith to possibly make some noise and manage a few surprise wins, but again, there's that schedule to consider. Ever since they won their superbowl in dominating fashion defensively, too many people gave them a seemingly indefinite free pass as far as their defense goes, "oh, they're the Ravens, they always have good D..." yeah, not last year, and I don't see it getting any better. The best defense is a good offense, but you need both, and I don't see the Ravens having either...
Overall I generally do agree with your picks, if anything the biggest discrepency I might have is the Jets...they did quite a bit more than just add Brett Favre - if anything he seems like the final piece to that puzzle in their scheme to 'win right now.' Although 8-8 is pretty fair considering they went 4-12 last year...but then again, the year before that they went 10-6 so you never know...
