I got the Cendyne 4x rewritable that actually installs as a Pioneer.

You can't just plop MPG files onto a DVD.
While I think there MAY be programs which convert them, AFAIK you have to demux the audio, convert the bitrate to DVD standard, and make sure the video is framed correctly. Then you have to author the disc.
Check http://www.doom9.org and see if there's some program that can do it automagically for you. You sure as hell don't want to do it by yourself, trust me.
