dedicated physx card

Why does this boost fps in none physx games say call of duty world at war?

I have seen a pretty good boost in that game and others with using a dedicated physx?

Is it just off load some of the load to the 2nd card?

I was thinking about adding a GT240 as a physx card to my main rig.

other games use the cpu for physics so having a dedicated card will do nothing for non physx games.

I don't think that Call of Duty uses PhysX at all.
