Decreasing Radeons' VRam timings?!!

I saw a thread a while ago about a software that lets you mod your Radeon's Vram timings which increases your video card's performance, I searched for it everywhere but I couldn't find it, anyone knows the software?

I already am using a newer flashed BIOS (978004N.BIN), so I will be modding my newer BIOS 🙂
 
Interesting thread. Nobody has mentionned that this type of mod can cause serious problems though. If you read that forum thread, you will see a bunch of people who had all kinds of artifacts and had to "blind flash" back to the original. I may try it out of curiousity, but it'll be a PITA if it doesn't work.
 
We tested a 9800 and 9700 with the 1.2 rev and it works, favorable increase in scores.

I highly doubt you can gain anything with the 9600 and below because of the simple fact that the physical controller is a 128-bit.

I bet they were leaving thier OC's at same Mhz....
I would assume that lowering the Cas would have the same results as normal DDR.
So, I'm going to adjust my PowerStrip to lower memory speed setting first.

Can anyone tell me if setting my memory controller to 256 bit mode on a 128mb card will do...?
(it says my card has the 256 controller hardware present)

9700pro with 8004 BIOS

1. Couldn't get the slider to 'stick' on my OC numbers.
(so, I'm still using powerstrip to OC my card)
2. Cas3 gave me corruption on re-boot (default settings).
3. Cas5 didnt allow any extra Mhz (default settings).
(this might be because I've been oc'd so long at 340)
4. My first timing changes were tRcdWR=2, tRP=6, and tRAS=11
(this gave me +57 on 3d03 and +42 on 3d01se)
5. Same settings with tRcdRD=6 gave me +8 on 3dm03.
6. Same as before with tRRD=3 gave me +13 in 3dm03.

I'm still looking at some of the other timings.
I'll post back if I get more increases.

I am still afraid of doing this mod because I have to flash my card through the process, and it's a risky thing, I could loose my card.

i posted another thread here while back. the latest ati tool (.22) has the ability to modify mem timings from the windows desktop.

WOW! That's a cool thing!
But how do I know the best timings for my video card? What if I choose the wrong ones and everything freeze?
 
ATI Tool's mem timings adjustments are only temporary and are erased on the next reboot, as the readme indicates.
