I am looking to start a Audio setup for somewhere around 500 less if possible.

I have read many of the threads here and at AVS, but still have a few questions.

It will be used mainly for movie/TV/gaming(PS3).

I was looking at getting the. Athena LS-500 or 300 for $300; How would these compare to Polk Monitor 50 or RTiA1 or is there something better in this range. The other possibility was to get the LS-100s and matching center, then move these to the rear and get the LS-500 in a few months. I will most likely add a sub as the first addition to the system either way.

For a receiver I was looking at either the Onkyo 505 or Yamaha RX-V363BL both of which are around 200. Is there a better one in this price, or it worth it to move up the price range a little.

Basically I'm looking to get the best a 2.0 or 3.0 system I can for about 500 if you have any recommendations I haven't considered.

Does anyone know of a place to audition equipment in this price range around the Boston area. I went to both Tweeter and Cameras INC/Homeplay in Arlington, and neither had anything for under like 800 and basically told me to go but a HTIB from Circuit City.

Thanks in advance.

If you plan on watching Blu-ray on your PS3, I would move up your receiver budget, and get one that supports the new HD sound codecs.

I wouldn't wait too long to get those Athenas if they're what you decide on. Klipsch bought their parent company and is discontinuing the Athena brand altogether. I don't know how the LS line sounds, I have their older AS series.
