Decisions, Decisions... Wait for NForce2, or P4 now?

This is the question.

P4B533 E (L/1394), P4 2.26G 533MHz, 2x 256M Corsair PC2400 C2 for $661

or

A7N8X, Athlon XP 2100+, 2x Corsair 256M PC3200 C2 for somewhere around $650 whenever it decides to be available. (based price on A7N266E, added $25)

The rest of the system is decided upon, just can't decide. The wait is killing me, but I keep wondering if I should...

Get the nforce2. You should be able to do better than $650, around $500 is more like it.

I second that... I would get an NForce 2, but I need an upgrade to my computer before I go back to college, so I can't wait that long... in the meantime I am gonna get a KT333 mobo, and maybe upgrade to a NForce 2 later on, if it is worth it. Then again, I might just wait for Hammer...who knows...

If ya can't wait : get a KT333 based mobo (good and inexpensive one like a basic MSI KT3 Ultra), get the RAM + CPU you listed.

Then, when they come out, swap to a Nforce2 board (if you feel, by then, that the reviews gave you reasons to wait) an keep the MSI as a spare (or sell)...

If you go the Pentium 4 route : you'll pay more (if I go by your specs above); getting a decent machine, but you'll have to forget Nforce2...

However, IF you CAN wait, then you'll be rewarded by price cuts all over = faster Athlon XP (for the same price as today), integrated Geforce 4MX graphics, dual-channel DDR (improved over the original nForce), etc.

I really would like to get an nForce2. What is the expected release of these boards?

I would get a P4, remember NF1?
so many people waiting for it, and when it came out, it look like just a little better then average, but you got to pay so much more.
I don't think NF2 is going to do much either. I don't use their buildin video, I already have a good sound card, and dual lan is not going to help me as a workstation board.
