Decision on a mobo for a conroe build, ecs or asrock?

I am wondering which of the mobo is better for a conroe build, a ECS NFORCE 570 SLIT-A or a Asrock 775 Dual Vsta. I ordered my asrock along with my E6400 from nbewegg last week and i got it this tuesday. Then i jumpped on a deal for a 7800gt for 150. Now i am questioning myself would would prove more useful to me, the asrock or the ecs. I think my local microcenter got the ecs board for 79 dollar after rebate. I got both ddr 2 ram and the 7800 coming in the mail tomorrow. Is there any reason for me to choose to use the asrock that i got than the ECS NFORCE 570 SLIT-A?

I heard soem conflicting report stating that ECS NFORCE 570 SLIT-A only got 8x pci-e while asrock only get 4x pci e and i also get a more limiting ram upgrading option for the asrock sinceasrock only support 2 stick of ddr2 ram.

Which one would ultimately serve me better at the end? I can always return the asrock since i never open it or sell it at fs/ft

eGADS... ultra-budget boards..... You get what you pay for. I'd return or sell the asrock, and if you're not OCing, get a sub-$100 Intel board.

I'd also return or sell the asrock. With some video cards, 4x PCI-E is plenty, but not with a 7800GT. Even if what you heard was true about the ECS board only having an 8x slot, that's still twice the bandwidth of the Asrock board's slot.

So in a way sicne i will be saving money in the end getting ecs since i won;t need to worry about getting 2x 1 gb stick and get 2 x 512 inbstead if i want 2 gig ram and pci-e will be better thanasrock one as well?

... what?

Save yourself some trouble and get a budget Intel board. Motherboard is something you really don't want to have to worry about, because it can affect so many parts of your system if something small goes wrong, it usually requires a reinstall unless you replace it with the same model, and it's a huge pain to replace if it turns out to be bad.

Asrocks are perfecly good boards. While they are not as feature rich as more expensive boards (as intended to yield a budget price), they do have limited oc-ability, are stable, and seem to use reliable components.

The 4x pci-e does affect performance, but in no way cripples it.

There may be reasons to recommend another board, but I have not heard any here that have merit.

The ecs nforce card i got from microcenter post and installed window, but the giga net don;t work and my pc felt so laggy and sluggish that i tried the asrock and it is working perfectly fine, no lag and crap. Here is a question, as a high end card such as 7800gt, how many percent loss i will have of using a pci-e card over a 16 x card?
