they always list times in local time for the airport

so if you depart an airport in CST 2:00 pm and arrive an airport in EST 4:00 pm then it was a one hour flying time

There are Filipinos in Des Moines?

Recommendations for restaurants/stores?

Unable to find anything in Cedar Rapids or Iowa City

How the heck can I depart Detroit on Feb 18 @ 2:40 pm and arrive IN Nagoya, Japan on Feb 18 @ 6:10pm if it's local time?

On Feb 18 @ 2:40 pm it would be 5:40am in Nagoya on Feb. 19.

The ticketing office should have denoted "1 Day later" but probably didn't because it is already Feb 19 in Japan when your flight departs Detroit.

First time flying East? You'll lose a day when you fly there (provided that you don't have crazy layovers). You will pretty much arrive on the same day when you're coming back, and only a few hours behind. That's all you really need to remember.

It wouldn't have anything to do with flying east (actually the plane is flying west), I lose the day because I'm crossing the Int'l Date Line.

Man alive, I am so dumb that I was also thinking that if a city/country is between the International Date Line and some other line-of-longitutde (I hadn't determined which :disgust: ) it was always the day later than the rest of the world.

I have no right to be a citizen of the world.
