I'm currently using my secondary rig while I've been waiting for some rma'd parts to arrive for my main system (see sig).

The specs for the secondary:

MSI K8NGM2-FID
A64 3700+ @ 2.4GHz
2GB corsair 3500LL (borrowed from main rig)
Antec Truepower 430
7800GTX 512 (610/1810) (also borrowed from main)

I'm waiting on a 7900GT step-up to arrive, and I'm debating whether I should purchase another 7900GT for my for my SLI setup (keeping the 512 for the other system), or if I shouldn't try and find a second 7800GTX 512. I plan on OCing the 7900GT and understand that speeds will easily surpass that of the 7800, but the 256MB of memory is making the descision a bit tough. I like uber resolutions, and have heard that that's where memory is king.

So what to do? Any opinions?

I think you can end with the same performance and save money by going 7900gt (volt modded im assuming from your listed clocks) Since the only difference between the 2 cards at those clocks is the extra vram. IMO that extra ram isn't worth all the money you'd save by going 7900gt (volt modded)

The GTX 512 is still available at some online stores, albeit at greatly inflated prices

I'd go for the 7900GT.

I run at 1920x1200, and I don't feel lacking with only 256 megs.

excellent. Exactly what I wanted to hear.

Yes, I'm volt modding, and I'm going to WC with either DD or Swiftech gear.

As far as aquiring the second 7800 512, I was going to look into ebay. But they're going for $500 roughly, and couldn't justify that when a 7900gtx vanilla is $489. But I may sell it anyhow and get a faster, cooler, and therefore more overclockable 7900gtx and pocket the change.

Thanks for the replies :)
