I don't plan on gaming alot, I only play HalfLife, thats about it, then some of the newer gen games (Halo, Tribes2, etc.). I plan on doing some website stuff and graphics.

Just wiped my HD today, and used the Slipstream install of Win2k+SP1 on a bootable CD to install. Very slick install. In the process now of reinstalling all of my software. Highly recomment Win2k for you.

In general, yes... There are a few minor differences in the Control Panel, but other than that, the UI for Win2k is pretty much the same as it is in Win98. As long as you're familiar with Win98, you shouldn't have too much of a problem going over to Win2k, unless you want to get to the real advanced options which take a little getting used to before you get the hang of using them.

I'm running win2k and it seems ok. I have had a couple things go haywire, but just prolly me messing around. All i want to know is how to disable some programs in my startup. I check in the services where you can disable and able blah blah blah, but the prog's i'm looking for arent there.:(

Win2k... and who cares if you play games or not... if the game is older than 4 years, then it might have problem. But with Win2k, i haven't had a SINGLE game problem yet. This include games like Everquest, Asheron's Call, Diablo 2, Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear, Age of Empires 2, Deus Ex, Balder Gate 2, UT, Q3... and a half dozen other games i cant' remember right now.

Just make sure your hardware is compatible with Win2k... if everythign checks out, then go for it.
